Three former Roughrider baseball players were selected in the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft. Going in the third round to the New York Mets, from Dallas Baptist University, pitcher Dominic Hamel. Dominic played for the Roughriders 2017-19 compiling a 12-8 overall record while striking out 159 batters. At Dallas Baptist University, the righthander from Chandler, Arizona posted a 13-2 record in 2021 and set the program’s single-season strikeout record with 136.
