It was just 70 years ago today, March 23, 1951 when the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team (RCT) the “Rakkasans”, were dropped behind enemy lines at the village of Munsan-ni in an attempt to trap retreating communist soldiers. After UN forces had defeated the Chinese at Chipyong-ni and pushed north to liberate Seoul all communist troops had begun fleeing towards the 38th parallel for the supposed safety of North Korea. Operation Tomahawk failed to trap any large number of enemy soldiers, most were able to slip past and escape, the same result as the first Air Assault by the 187th...
