On this week’s episode, I welcome Luke Haas, president of Elite Marble Co. located in Montello, WI. This company was originally started by Luke’s parents, Dan and Marlene Haas back in 1986. Luke purchased the business in 2007 and since then, he and his wife have expanded the company to include several product lines, new bowl styles, and evolving colors.

On this episode, Luke will be discussing some of the biggest challenges they faced as a company coming out of a deep recession and how they overcame a culture problem that affects so many organizations today.

One of the books Luke references is 2 Second Lean by Paul Akers. The book focuses on practical ways to improve your organization every day. When he decided to make cultural changes to their company years back, Luke learned it’s a lot easier said than done. It starts with your people, and you must have buy-in at every level for it to work.

We’ll be discussing how he worked through many of these early struggles by making small, simple improvements and getting his team to take ownership along the way

Some important book we reference during this episode are:

Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink The Toyota Way by Jeffrey Liker2 Second Lean by Paul Akers How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie
