Grand Rapids Michigan native Willie the Kid has long time held a place amongst Hip-Hop purists as a "real emcee."

The first act signed to Dj Drama's Aphilliates imprint, Will's rep as a real lyricist grew so much that Busta Rhymes took time out to discuss how dope he was on song.

As the industry changed, so did Will. Moving out of the major label machine, Willie has been indie and thriving for sometime now. It's his new businesses that would peak the interest of many right now.

Willie the Kid was a guest for our Atlantabis City Market event and sat for a taping of the podcast. During our time, he spoke about going indie, becoming a serial entreprenuer, working with PBS on a Langston Hughes documentary and more.
