If you didn't know by now, I'm a huge fan of professional wrestling since I was a kid. In elementary school, I would fantasy book my matches using my G.I. Joe figures. I even pulled from the epic Bloodline story to develop promotional ideas for my podcast. I'm that guy when it comes to pro wrestling.

Lately, I've been watching VICE's hit docuseries, Darkside of the Ring. One episode in particular that followed one of my favorites growing up, Junkyard Dog actually coincided with our latest episode of the show.

Baron Black, promoter and founder of Battle Slam made his debut appearance on CashColorCannabis not too long ago. A veteran on the indie wrestling scene, Baron saw an opportunity in the game and filled it.

Based in Atlanta, his promotion has showcased many stars who you may have seen on television as well as given an opportunity to new names in the game.

On the night that Darkside of the Ring aired the Junkyard Dog episode, we spoke with Baron Black about Battle Slam, how he broke into the game, black representation in professional wrestling, bringing big names to Atlanta, Lil Scrappy and more.
