People, in general, have a way of just going along to get along. Forging ahead for decades of our lives, often doing things that we might not be in love with doing. It’s really a terrible way to live. You gotta applaud people who decide to chose their own destiny.

I think about that often as I move on in my life. I’m happy to say that at this point in my life, I’m doing what I feel like doing. It took almost 3 decades, but I got here.

So when I heard that Sonia Erika made the decision to move on from her work in cannabis to pursue something else, I was happy.

I met Sonia around the time when I was starting my journey in cannabis. She was part of a collective of young voices of color called CannaCultural. She would go on to become an influential voice in Massachusetts with her work Massachusetts Recreational Consumer Council

But like myself, Sonia had a moment when she realized it might be time to explore something new.

I had a chance to speak with Sonia recently about her move to music, leaving cannabis, and what that meant to her, Death is a Business and “Golden Boy”, whether or not there is a second chapter for her in cannabis. .
