Being the first is something many aspire to be, no matter what area of life we are talking about. When you’re in college, you want to be first in your class. When you begin your trek up the corporate ladder, there is a good chance you dreamed that one day you would become the youngest C.E.O. in company history.

First to own a house in your family, youngest to start a business. While a lot of hoopla comes with achieving a goal before anyone else and a record pace, the reality of your new situation can come at you quickly. It takes someone smart with a lack of fear to rise to the top when many doubted the feat could happen. Hope Wiseman fits that mold.

The youngest dispensary owner in the country, Hope runs Mary & Main with her mother Dr. Octavia Simkins-Wiseman and Dr. Larry Bryant. Based in Capitol Heights Maryland, Mary & Main are one of the few Black-owned dispensaries in cannabis.

Aside from being the face to the brand, Hope is also a vocal advocate for social equity. A rising star in cannabis, Hope Wiseman could really inspire a new generation of ganjapreneurs. We had the chance to speak with Hope about what led her to leave corporate America for cannabis, working with her mother, the need for social equity, JAY Z, the next Hope Wiseman, her favorite strains in the store and more.
