The Jews that were being written to lived in hard times. They were under immense pressure, persecution, and heavy life circumstances. In the midst of this they were called to run a race. As we read in Hebrews 13 we find that it is not a solo race of survival. They were called to thrive in the mission of Jesus' life and run the race together.
