This week we move away from Disney once again and tap into those crazy television animators - Hanna-Barbera. But wait! We don't do TV, only feature films! You're correct, but Hey There, Yogi Bear was a feature film. Hanna-Barbera's first, in actuality. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the limited animation.

Since this movie is based on an original story, Aly gives us a condensed biography on the animators/directors/producers that are William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Sarrah gives us a timeline on where the studio has gone since then, including the birth of Cartoon Network!

Our recap touches on wily women, cartoon physics, adorable kittens, and once again questioning why the main character is kind of a jerk to his friends.

This week we leave Disney once again for the sunny woods of Jellystone National Park. What a great movie to watch on a warm summer's night.

Since Yogi Bear revolves around original story lines, Aly talks about the creation of Hanna-Barbera and how those two crazy animators got together and got into television. Sarrah discusses the road that Hanna-Barbera has taken since, and where it is today. Along the way we bring up David Attenborough, Tom & Jerry, a host of early animation studios, and how The Cartoon Network came to be!

In our Voice Cast Corner this week, we discuss how the voice (and to some extent, the styling) of Yogi Bear was based on the character of Ed Norton from The Honeymooners. Check out the clip below to see what we mean! Also, take a guess on what other famous Hanna-Barbera character was based on Jackie Gleason's character, Ralph Kramden.

Our recap is fairly smooth sailing, although cartoon physics trips Aly up a lot in this episode. We discuss more wily women, the relationship between bears and humans, feel a little sorry for Ranger Smith, and enjoy some toe-tapping songs along the way!
