Baby formula is an essential for many parents, but the recent recall by Abbott labs has left them scrambling. The company, which is the biggest U.S. supplier of powder infant formula, initiated a recall and closed its Sturgis, Michigan, manufacturing plant after reports of serious bacterial infections in several infants and two deaths. The recall and shutdown has worsened a baby formula shortage among multiple manufacturers, which had been brewing for some time.
