Families who are struggling daily to provide care for their loved ones with severe disabilities face annual uncertainties of whether public support will continue. This financial aid, known as Medicaid waivers, are at times denied and at other times approved. Senator John Hoffman, DFL-Champlin, and Senate Human Services Reform Chair Jim Abeler, R-Anoka, both long-time advocates for people with disabilities, join Capitol Report moderator Shannon Loehrke to share their concerns over the problems many Minnesotans are facing in securing Medicaid waivers and possible solutions to easing the problem.

Also in the program, Mark Dayton, the 40th Governor of Minnesota, is honored with the unveiling of his official portrait, and State Capitol Historian Brian Pease highlights the features of the building's largest chamber--the Minnesota House of Representatives.
