Governor Tim Walz and the Minnesota Legislature enacted historic measures during the 2023 legislative session. A $2.6 billion dollar package for upgrades to wastewater systems, local roads and bridges, state college and university assets and much more was enacted into law. The DFL-controlled legislature also took advantage of a projected $17.5 billion dollar state surplus to craft a tax relief package totaling $4 billion over the next four years. Senator Sandy Pappas, chair of the Senate Capital Investment Committee, and Senator Ann Rest, Chair of the Senate Tax Committee, join moderator Shannon Loehrke to highlight their historic measures.

Also on this week's program, Governor Tim Walz and legislative leaders promote Juneteenth, a new state holiday in recognition of June 19, 1865, when Major General Gordon Granger proclaimed freedom for enslaved people in Texas--more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
