My guest, Dr. Lawrence D. Mass, M.D., is a co-founder of the Gay Men’s Health Crisis in New York City. He is most notably recognized as the first to write about the epidemic that later became known as AIDS. He is the author of We Must Love One Another or Die: The Life and Legacies of Larry Kramer; a two-volume collection, Dialogues of the Sexual Revolution; and a memoir, Confessions of a Jewish Wagnerite, Being Gay and Jewish in America. He has faced his own struggles with and done specialist work in addiction. He explores interfaces of culture, social tolerance, health and spirituality, and seemingly disparate phenomenas such as Wagnerism and AIDS.

Book: Critical Perspectives of Wagnerism in the realm of Wagnerism, Larry Mass’ introspection on being a homosexual Jew living in New York City weaves itself into a unique perspective of art, intoxication, addiction, codependence and recovery.
