A Life of Prostitution after a Rape that Produced a Child: The Cassandra Terrelonge Story

Out of adversity came a vision to help raped victims and unwanted babies. This is the vision of Cassandra Terrelonge who was raped and become a mother at 11 years old. Wanted to be a good mother at that young age, my guest had decided to make prostitution the means to an end financially. Choosing to give birth to her son, who had started to show symptoms of autism spectrum disorder at about nine months, was a blessing as he became an inspiration to her and spur her vision to help rape victims. Cassandra shared her story with Dr. Canute White. She talked about her traumatic experience, involvement in prostitution, spirituality, resilience, the forgiveness of the 19-year-old man who had raped her, and the need to get support for her ‘vision’.

Cassandra would like assistance to realize the establishment of a restorative and counselling centre for rape victims, especially adolescents. This institution would also provide a foster home arrangement for unwanted babies “…instead of mothers disposing of the newly born babies in garbage bins, left abandon on the streets, or choosing abortion”. In addition, the facility would offer self-care and skill training for persons living with disabilities. #prolife #rapevictims #prostitution
