Laganga Estranja is the stage name of Jay Jackson, an American choreographer and drag queen, based in Los Angeles. Langanja uses her drag platform to advocate for cannabis and came to public attention on the 6th season of RuPaul's Drag Race, finishing in eighth place. Laganja shared how she's maintaining her creative output during COVID and how it's possible to be a good person doing good business in cannabis. In the conversation, Carey learned the history of the LGBTQIA+ community spearheading legal medical cannabis in the early 90s in California with Prop 215, the Compassionate Use Act of 1996, which rose from the need for HIV/AIDS patients to legally consume. You might wonder how Drag and cannabis intersect? What stigma exists around the two communities? Listen as Carey digs in to find out more from Laganja.
