This post show chat deals with the final Part of our recent two-part story, ‘The Champions Portion’. As ever there was plenty to talk about and we love this one dearly… we miss telling it live during December, because although it may come across as a heavy battle ridden tale, the comic factor is very evident in live shows… because this story is gas!

Although one of the most famous heroes of Irish Myth, Cúchulainn was not always granted the title of Ulsters Champion. To be a champion of the people took more than sheer strength and brilliance, you had to be the champion of the people, loyal and true to your word in every way.

Cúchulainn’s championship is contested by his fierce cousin Conal Cearnach, the Battle Winer, and the well-meaning, (but often in the way) Lóegaire Búadach, the victorious. These two champions think they ought to be names the champion of Ulster.

Despite failing miserably at overcoming Cúchulainn in any of the series of tests that they face to come up with a winner, the two men stay stubbornly defiant. Until the intervention of a tall dark stranger, and the beheading test...
