Callywood Live with Walker Smith & Keenan Bristol

Prior to her writing years, Walker Smith worked in Los Angeles under the name Bobbi Walker as a recording artist signed to the prestigious Casablanca label. Even as she recorded three solo albums, she quietly continued her creative writing studies and began writing professionally part-time.  In 1995, she moved to New York to pursue a full-time writing career.  There she wrote commentary and interviews for two magazines, Vertigo and African Voices, as well as features for the Reel Sisters Film Festival.  She completed a biography of celebrated radio pioneer Jack “The Rapper” Gibson in 1999, and then moved to New Orleans.  Smith released her first novel The Color Line just two months before Hurricane Katrina made landfall.  After relocating, she continued to write and finally finished her most personal novel. As a second-generation musician, Smith combined childhood memories of her father’s bebop jam sessions with her own experiences to create the world and characters of Bluestone Rondo. Keenan "Special" Bristol is a popular Caribbean recording artist.  His new song is "Superman 1,2,3 Away," in keeping with the blood drive's slogan of "Heroes Donate Blood."  He has a free CODE RED concert coming up on May 15th.  Music Brings Life Inc., whick Keenan is the founder and president of, is a Brooklyn-based 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to educating young people in the Black American, Latino and Caribbean communities about the vital importance of donating blood, has begun its 2015 drive to get their message out and recruit donors, appropriately themed "Heroes Donate Blood."
