This is episode four of the “Trauma Informed Investigations” series, where we follow a fictitious story to address the legal and human issues that arise in an organization when confronted with allegations of sexual abuse. In today’s episode, we discuss the process of conducting an internal investigation and retaining outside counsel, notification processes, and mandatory reporting and communications with law enforcement.

Leading the discussion is my Ballard Spahr colleague Jill Steinberg, a Partner in Ballard’s Philadelphia Office. Jill is joined by Katharine Manning. Katharine is the author of “The Empathetic Workplace: Five Steps to a Compassionate, Calm, and Confident Response to Trauma on the Job”, and the President of Blackbird DC. She has worked on issues of trauma and victimization for more than 25 years.
