Founded in 2014 by product development veterans Giles Lowe and Arne Lang-Ree, the duo set out to create a superior approach for engaging with innovators, entrepreneurs and designers. They achieved this through a highly collaborative process, in essence teaming up with their clients through all aspects of product evolution from idea to launch.

Spanner’s portfolio boasts hundreds of companies including Apple, Google and Amazon and globally recognized products including Xbox, Fitbit and GoPro. The team has introduced many disruptive products to market including Brava, August Lock, Sana, and Arable.

Spanner believes that with great products comes great responsibility. The company is dedicated to making the world a better place through its products and beyond. Most recently, Spanner has taken part in a philanthropic venture with Living Water International to drill a water well in El Salvador, providing clean, safe water for residents. Regardless the distance or the challenge, Spanner applies its global sensibilities and engineering experience to every aspect of its business and team culture.

Giles Lowe is co-founder and CEO of Spanner, a firm committed to creating products that impact the world and the way we live. As a child in England, Giles was fascinated with how things worked and enjoyed taking apart radios and other appliances. Fast forward more than two decades later, and Giles is still deconstructing and making things work better. He has tenaciously led many successful high profile launches for world-renowned companies including Apple, Google and Microsoft and hundreds of emerging markets. Giles has a wealth of international experience in a diverse array of product markets including consumer electronics products for home, wellness, entertainment, agriculture, food and beverage, sports, and motorsports. When not creating the next disruptive product, he can be found paddle boarding or surfing along the California coast or making sandcastles with his triplets. Giles holds a BSC with honors in product design and manufacturing from Bournemouth University.

Arne Lang-Ree is co-founder and CTO of Spanner. A tinker, thinker and deconstuctor, Arne challenges himself and Spanner’s clients to bring sustainable and responsible products to life. Born in Norway, Arne was schooled by his engineering father to look at things twice. At an early age, he was imagineering inventions that ultimately inspired him to earn his MSE in Product Design and BSME in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University. In his career, Arne has racked up more than 25 years of product development and mechanical design experience for consumer products including Koosh, Fitbit, Bell, GoPro, and a host of disruptive products with start-ups. Arne is rarely without his trusted canine sidekick, Penny, and the duo can be found at the Spanner office creating together or walking the Silicon Valley for inspiration.
