Bridging the Technology Literacy Gap in the Workplace

49 episodes - English - Latest episode: about 5 years ago -

My name is Troy A. Burgher, the host of this show, and the Owner of TAB Training & Consulting, LLC.
The vision of TAB Training & Consulting, LLC is to bridge the technology literacy gap. We specialize in working with community-based social-service organizations, religious institutions, and city-sponsored organizations to identify and address the computer and technology literacy needs of their respective community and of its residents. Most of the communities we serve are often economically disadvantaged and with limited current and viable technology resources available to them. Therefore it is our mission to help individuals reach their maximum potential by developing their human capital through computer and technology literacy. We use our workshops, seminars/webinars and training programs to teach and demonstrate how technology can be a powerful tool in the development of human capital.
Our radio show will be used to promote computer and technology literacy with a special focus on the advantages of and capabilities provided by Microsoft Office Suite applications as a tool for acquiring such necessary skill sets.

“Enough Already! No More Excuses – It’s Time to Get Organized!”

May 19, 2019 20:00 - 31 minutes - 27.7 MB

So, I remember being told by my mom “everything has a place and therefore makes it easy to find and easier to put back in its proper place.”  Little did I know that this would be my first lesson in becoming an organized person and professional that I am today. I think I drive my wife crazy with it sometimes and is the one common trait that I am known for possessing by my professional colleagues.  One thing I learned early on in my journey as an entrepreneur, which began more than 25 years ag...

Successfuly achieving your 2019 New Year's Resolutions!

January 13, 2019 19:00 - 16 minutes - 13.8 MB

Troy A. Burgher states confidently and with great conviction that technology is the key to achieving one’s New Year’s Resolutions for 2019.  Coming off a severe medical issue in 2018, one of the comforting aspects of dealing with that issue (outside of the tremendous support of family and friends) was technology and how I was able to begin my preparation for a comeback year in 2019.  Technology afforded me the ability to learn new skills, communicate with family & friends, work on my newly cr...

Give the Gift of Knowledge this Holiday Season

December 16, 2018 19:00 - 16 minutes - 14 MB

Do something different this holiday season by giving someone a gift that will keep giving.  Give the gift of knowledge that will provide a long-lasting benefit and grow in value over time.  Today so much effort and time are spent on being “in the moment”, with very little time spent on planning for the future.  Everything has to happen now!  "I want an answer to my work issue by clicking on this phone app – now!"  Or, "I want a job paying more money because I want to live a certain lifestyle ...

We're Not Your Average Computer Training Business

December 09, 2018 19:00 - 15 minutes - 13.1 MB

There are two "technology literacy" gaps in the workplace! 25 years ago, I started working in an office-type environment where one’s technology literacy was based on the ability to "use" a computer, a printer, a copy machine, and a fax machine in order to perform his/her daily job duties. So much has changed since then, especially when it comes to administrative-type tasks and duties that were once the sole responsibility of the administrative department or staff within an organization.  Now...

Did you know that April is Financial Literacy Month?  Do you have in place the means to track your daily, weekly, or monthly expenses?  Was this one of your New Year’s Resolutions...and how is that going?  I know, from personal experience, that recording things like "where I spend my money" and "how much I spend on certain non-essential items are things I don't like to know about or see (especially in a documented format).   What typically works for most is to just check the current bank b...

It was such a devastating event that it affected my health, my employment status, and my mental stability, including putting a financial strain and unfortunate stress on my wife, family and...

Sometimes You Just Have to Hit Bottom!

November 09, 2014 19:30 - 16 minutes - 14.2 MB

One day while looking at my home page for my Facebook account I came across a post as follows, "Sometimes GOD has to let you wreck yourself so HE can build you back up!"  I could not help but to take a long pause and I must have re-read that post 30 or 40 times.  It would eventually give me clear perspective on what I have been experiencing for the past 6-7 months...and provided me with a clear understanding of what I needed to strt doing to change things. Now it all made sense.  Tune in to m...

July 06, 2014 18:00 - 29 minutes - 6.47 MB

Often times we take for granted just how important technology literacy is in our personal, professional and academic lives. For example, I am a diabetic and therefore it is very important for me to monitor my glucose levels; I use Microsoft Excel to track my glucose readings, the times at which I take my glucose readings, the food that I have eaten that day and I also track the highs, lows and averages for the week.  I even have charts and graphs to display trends in a pictorial way.  Trackin...

Purchasing a computer is not as difficult as purchasing a new home or a new car, but the same effort (homework) should be a part of the process.
