The 46th President of the United States Joseph R.  Biden has set an extraordinary example of the power of relationships through out his long career. He was first elected at age 29 to the United States Senate and through his entire career has made reaching across the aisle its hallmark.

Here we look back at  three of the unique relationships that he has formed and the example they set for all of our leaders today about reaching across the aisle , making a difference, and having your friends stick with you in crisis.

Profiled here is his friendship with Senator Strom Thurmond, Senator John McCain and finally a look back  at a very divisive battle in the late 1980s over the Supreme Court Nomination of Robert Bork,  where Biden's philosophy of not making enemies out of political adversaries may actually pay benefits in the coming months with another old friend, The Senate Leader of the Republicans, Mitch McConnell.
