With both of his parents being doctors, Andrew Golden decided that he wanted to go another route and pursue a career in sports journalism. While in college, he had a stop at Johns Hopkins Medicine as an intern in the Media Relations department. Here he learned how to step out of his comfort zone. Since then, he has excelled in sports writing. Being passionate about telling the stories of race and gender, he has found a way to incorporate these stories in sports. Andrew Golden recently graduated from Northwestern University and is currently interning at the Washington Post. He shares his journey which includes being at the Nationals stadium the night a shooting occurred outside of the stadium and how social media helped him relay the story.
