One of the byproducts of organic solid waste at our landfill sites is methane, which apart from just escaping into the atmosphere and not utilised for its energy potential, is also considered by scientists to be a greenhouse gas and a contributor to global warming. The City of Cape Town has been working on a project to tap into this source of energy and converting it into much-needed electricity.
