The film takes place on a lifeboat, where Allied survivors of a shipwreck caused by a German U-boat struggle to survive. When the group saves a Nazi from the water, tensions begin to mount in the confined space of the small boat. Tallulah Bankhead gives her definitive film performance as a materialistic reporter.
