Based on
the character created by Phoebe Atwood Taylor (under the pseudonym Alice
Tilton) and starring Walter Hampden in the title role, The Adventures of
Leonidas Witherall is an old time radio detective series with an unusual
protagonist. He is the head of a distinguished New England boy's school and is
best known for his remarkable resemblance to William Shakespeare! If that isn't
enough, Witherall is also an accomplished author, penning the "popular
Lieutenant Hazeltine stories". He always gets mixed up in murder, solving
crimes with his good friend Mrs. Mullet, the neighborhood housekeeper, played
by Ethel Remey.
