This week, I'm talking with Christina Larson and Rob Hook, Owners of Basic Batch Donuts, a specialty donut shop located in Milford, MA. After graduating from Johnson & Wales University in Denver, CO, with a baking and pastry degree and working in the restaurant industry for over fifteen years, Christina knew she wanted to open her own bakery.

After being laid off due to Covid, opening up a donut shop came to fruition. What started as a setback quickly turned into an opportunity as Christina and her fiance, Rob, worked tirelessly together to open up Basic Batch Donuts, despite the pandemic. Now, one year later, Rob and Christina share what it was like starting their company, plans for the future, and why their team feels more like family than employees.

When the two of them aren't making donuts in the early morning hours, you can often find them spending time with their dog Myla.
