Neglected by her parents and bullied by the tyrannical headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, Matilda finds solace in books and bonds with her kind teacher, Miss Honey. With the support of her friends, Matilda stands up to injustice, ultimately using her powers to bring about change and find a loving home with Miss Honey.
