In the summer of 1970 I asked our WOKY Program Director George Wilson why we were playing a country artist on a rock and roll radio station. He told me that “For the Good Times” by Ray Price was going to be a big hit. And he was right. In fact, the album of the same name was album of the year. Ray Price is in the Country Music Hall of Fame not only for singing but for writing country songs. He also raised racehorses and some of them ran at the Arlington Park race track near Milwaukee. In this podcast he talks about that big crossover record and tells a favorite Hank Williams story.
