I’m sure most of you remember the hits of Lesley Gore. Lesley Gore is a singer, songwriter, and actress. She recorded “It’s My Party” when she was only 16 years old. I was surprised when she told me what famous musician was involved in that recording. She received an Oscar nomination for her appearance in “Fame.” She sold more than a million copies of the feminist song “You Don’t Own Me.” Her record company refused to let her record the song “A Groovy Kind of Love” because it had the word “groovy” in the title. The Mindbenders ended up having a million selling record with that song. She cut Marvin Hamlisch’s first hit composition “Sunshine Lollipops and Rainbows.” And you might recall her appearances on the Batman TV series in which she starred as pussycat, one of Catwoman’s girls.
