Mark Hawthorne has fostered numerous house rabbits, including seven he adopted. He has rescued abandoned rabbits, volunteered with rabbit rescue groups, and educated people about rabbits through his published writing and public outreach. In addition to The Way of the Rabbit, he is the author of A Vegan Ethic: Embracing a Life of Compassion Toward All, Bleating Hearts: The Hidden World of Animal Suffering, and Striking at the Roots: A Practical Guide to Animal Activism (all from Changemakers Books).




His writing has been featured in Vegan’s Daily Companion (Quarry Books) and in the anthologies, Stories to Live By: Wisdom to Help You Make the Most of Every Day and The Best Travel Writing 2005: True Stories from Around the World (both from Travellers’ Tales).
