At 35 years of age, de Randamie had already been competing as a professional for 20 years heading into this fight. That’s a wild statistic, one that stands out considering her opponent is about a decade younger. All the same, “Iron Lady” picked up a pair of wins over Top 5-ranked Bantamweights in her last two, even if one of those bouts was technically a title-winning Featherweight battle. There’s a reason Ladd was the favorite, however. The up-and-comer made her amateur debut at 18, winning multiple regional titles before jumping into high-level professional competition quickly. She’s done nothing but win inside the Octagon, prompting this elevation in level of competition. Regardless those compelling stats Ladd was the victim of the quickest KO in UFC history at 16 seconds in round 1 via right cross. De Randamie was a classy winner in the octagon post-fight while Aspen was still getting her wits about her.

Urijah Faber being one half of the co-main event kind of added some ‘name value’ to this card, was it a mistake for him to retire? Apparently not, Faber stormed into this bout with a powerful overhand right to ground and pound and finished this fight at 46 seconds in round 1. Despite the exciting rapid finishes in the main and co-main events of this card, this was a great example of a card you may have been willing to miss out on watching live. If that’s the case, check out our Radio-Style Live Play-By-Play broadcast here on Bloody Elbow, or over on our SBN MMA YouTube, or the audio on any of our BE Presents podcast platforms.
