Alz Author Jean Lee: Alzheimer’s Daughter

AlzAuthors can be found at www.alzauthors.com. It is managed by six daughters who have experienced the loss of a loved one with dementia. AlzAuthors.com’s goal is to make a difference to peoples dementia journeys. Authors chose to write about their personal stories to help others along their journey and they invite others to join them and to become an AlzAuthor.

We know the pain of being forgotten.
We have all witnessed decline.
We have provided countless hours of caregiving.
We know many others have experienced the same and we believe in the power of sharing those stories.

Jean Lee - Alzheimer’s Daughter

While working full time as a 3rd grade teacher, both of Lee’s parents were diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease on the same day. Although she never considered writing a book, the experience of balancing roles of teacher and caregiver poured out in her first book, a memoir, Alzheimer’s Daughter.

Through that experience, Lee connected with other authors of Alzheimer’s books and co-founded AlzAuthors.com. Their goal is to seek authors of best-selling Alzheimer’s books and ask those authors to write 500-word posts about the story behind their stories. After two years, they are over 170 voices strong, ending the silence and stigma of the disease. 

Jean Lee lives with her husband in small-town Ohio, twenty minutes from anything. Although she worked full time while her parents were ill, she is now retired after twenty-two years of teaching elementary school. Her children are married with children of their own. Five grandchildren are her greatest blessings.
