The Context of White Supremacy hosts our 9th study session on James Loewen's acclaimed text, Sundown Towns: A Hidden Dimension of American Racism. Loewen, a Suspected Racist, has written a litany bestselling and critically acclaimed history books that use the word "Racism." In addition to Sundown Towns, Loewen's Lies My Teachers Told Me, also examines the ways Whites deliberately conceal their history of savagery. Mr. Loewen might be aware that we're reading his book with suspicion. Last week's segment offered an array evidence that Whites purposely lie and conceal evidence of their terrorism against black people. Loewen described how historical societies and local newspapers often value the "good name" of the town as opposed to speaking honestly about an area's history of White Supremacy. Although Loewen refuses to indict Whites for lying, he does specify that the widespread nature of sundown towns demands collective White endorsement.
