Thanks to Zachary Jordan for his email:

Hi BFV,

I have a question about talking to my non-vegan niece and nephew about veganism and what happens to farmed animals. Right now my brother’s kids are both too young for me to feel comfortable sharing graphic details about animal agriculture, but eventually I would like to get real with them about it. My brother and sister-in-law are aware that I am an ethical vegan, but they haven’t indicated that conversations about veganism are a taboo subject around their kids. Should I ask them for their permission to talk about animal rights with their kids (if the situation feels appropriate — like if they ask me why I don’t eat meat, or what “vegan” means)? Have either of you discussed veganism with younger family members and did you receive pushback from parents?

I love the show!

Sincerely,

Zachary Jordan

PS- You can read my letter on the air if you want.
