Jesus said a number of statements that today’s religionists don’t understand or outright reject. For example in John 14:6 he claims he was the only way, and the only truth. In Matthew 7:21 he said that not everyone who claims him as Lord will be acceptable to him, regardless of the good things they did. Hmm, that seems strange coming from a loving God. Then Jesus talks about building on the sand versus building on the rock. These are clearly connected.
