The interesting character of John the Baptist

John the Baptist was controversial and radical in his message. He made enemies of the religious establishment, and was eventually executed for speaking truth. Jesus said there was no one greater than him in all the earth. But it was King Herod, the one who had John executed, who gave him what some say was the greatest compliment. But it was not one of intention.
