Lessons from the prophet Jeremiah

Are there valuable and practical lessons that we can learn from the life and experiences of the prophet Jeremiah. Jeremiah faced major challenges and threats from, of all people, the kings and people of Judah. The reason was because he continually warned them of their inevitable destruction, just like Israel. Because of their total rejection of God their time has come and Jeremiah was called by God to declare his judgement upon them. How does this relate to us today?
