Previous Episode: The Virgin Born Son
Next Episode: The Manger Sign

Jesus had a family tree. In fact his family line is very important. This sermon looks at the genealogy of Jesus as given by Matthew and then by Luke and its importance and application. Romans 1:1b-3 the gospel of God— 2 the gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures 3 regarding his Son, who as to his earthly life was a descendant of David, 4 and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.
Jesus with reference to his humanity is descended from Abraham and from David and is the fulfillment of the covenants God made with Abraham and later with David. In Luke Jesus lined is traced to Adam and he came as the Second Adam and as the Seed of the woman.

In reference to his divinity Jesus is the Word incarnate --He is the eternal Son of the Father in the unity of the one God.
Bethlehem Ephrathah,
you are small among the clans of Judah;
One will come from you
to be ruler over Israel for Me.
His origin is from antiquity,
from eternity
