Previous Episode: The Resurrection Mandate
Next Episode: God's Seal

Forty days after Jesus of Nazareth was raised from the dead he physically ascended into heaven. Luke records the event for us in Luke 24:49 and in Acts 1:9-11. Jesus started speaking of ascension, that is he return to the Father in heaven in the first few weeks of his ministry. He stressed it in the hours he shared with the disciple in the upper room just prior to the events unfolded that resulted in his crucifixion and burial followed three days later with his being raised back to life.  For 40 days he came and went in various meeting with his disciples teaching them and giving them the message they were to preach and teach others. The record of this is found in the gospel narratives and the New Testament writings. Why was the return of Christ Jesus, the Word made flesh, the Son, to the presence of the Father so important to him? Why is it important to us?
