Next Episode: The Unexpected Prayer

In Luke 9:51 we have this statement-  he set his face to go to Jerusalem. An older translation says it in the words of Isaiah 50:7, therefore I have set my face like a flint, to go to Jerusalem. From this point on in Luke's narrative Jesus is traveling to Jerusalem with his eyes fixed on what awaits there for him. Interesting this beginning of the travel log of Jesus six month walk occurs soon after his transfiguration. On the mountain with 3 of his closest disciples  as he was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became dazzling white.  And behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.

In John's gospel narrative we encounter another repeated phrase. Jesus spoke of his hour which had not come but did come when he entered Jerusalem recorded in John 12:23, the hour has come.
What lay behind these repeated markers?  His eyes where fixed on Jerusalem and there his hour would come.
