Previous Episode: Receiving the Son

The Psalms have always played a central role in the life God's people, in both Israel and in the Church. They function in many ways: prayer, instruction, confession, and affirmation. They are songs expressing the range of human emotions in relation to God and others. We should read the Psalms, pray them, sing them, and connect them to the story line of the Bible. Psalm 91 is a well-beloved psalm. It has a warmth about it and express a word to God, a word about God to others, and a revelation of God in his divine speech in the last paragraph. This podcast incudes a reading of the psalm with notations of who is speaking and how each of its distinct sections embrace a creed, affirmation or confession of faith, instruction about God, and God's response to the one who trusts in him.
