The commission or the command of Jesus to his disciples was and is to preach, or announce and herald the good news of eternal salvation in the person of Jesus the Son of God. The gospel concerns God's unique Son, the Son of Man who came to give his life a ransom for many. The written words of Mark and the Apostle Peter show that the gospel is the act of Jesus the Messiah in his redemptive work on behalf of sinners and he is to be proclaimed that people may repent and believe on him resulting in their eternal salvation.
