Are You Severely Overweight

Biography

In late 2020 I went through a horrendous breakup. This breakup, compounded with the weight of an unstable childhood, decades of poor decision-making, poor relationship choices and poor habits, left me obese, anxious, depressed and suicidal at the age of 34.

That was two years ago. Since then, I have turned my life around in every conceivable way and now coach others on how to step back from the path of negativity, poor health, hopelessness, worthlessness, fear and suicide.
It is now my life's mission to help folks out of the pit of suicidality, anxiety, depression, repression and denial and take back their lives.Desired CTASend Audience To:instagram.com/nycfoodwaysListeners who are struggling with negativity or thoughts of suicide can get in touch with me for help. Those interested in starting a food rescue project in their area can do likewise.About JonMy story:

-I had an intensely neurotic upbringing on the Upper West Side of Manhattan that left me with the best and the worst that the neighborhood has to offer: extreme cultural acumen *and* a ton of intergenerational pain, respectively.
-I lived in New Orleans from the age of 18-32, first in college and then wallowing on-and-off in the degenerate filth of that city's service industry: a localized hell of drugs, alcohol, hook-ups, broken dreams and lack of commitment.
-I spent years in my 20s traveling the world, working on sustainable local agriculture projects. This gave me a deep and abiding love for local food, food systems, and alternative ways of living and being. It was also a way for me to run from my problems (fun fact: one can never run from that which they carry within themselves).
-In late 2020 I went through a horrendous breakup after my fiancée came out as a lesbian. This drove me to the absolute PIT of temporary pleasure-seeking, and was the catalyst for me to, after a period of intense pain, turn my life around.
-Since getting healthy I have established a citywide food rescue program that currently feeds *thousands* of families a week with edible but unsalable food donations that would otherwise be thrown out. This is an extension of my love for self and my drive to heal my own system: healing a broken food system.
-I experienced an apartment fire on August 1, 2022. This was a massive blessing in disguise--by stripping me of "everything", I learned that, with the proper perspective, nothing of value can ever be taken from us, because what is truly valuable are our internal assets. Following the fire, I didn't skip a beat with my program, either.
-I have found that coaching others others is THE GREATEST FEELING IN THE WORLD. There is NO GREATER HIGH (and this is from someone that went to Burning Man, twice) than helping to absolve people of pain--the same pain that I managed to absolve myself of. This is my life's mission. My calling. My purpose.
