Psilocybin in Central America

The ancient civilizations that most famously used psilocybin were in Central America. There is a lot of indigenous artwork in Central America that depicts mushrooms as a means of communicating with the gods.

Proponents touted an increasing amount of research supporting the therapeutic benefits of psilocybin in treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addiction to other drugs.Indigenous tribes in Siberia used hallucinogenic mushrooms called Amanita Muscaria which, funnily enough, reindeer also commonly consume. These cultures still are known to collect and drink the psychoactive urine of said reindeer.

Dr. Dustin Sulak, an osteopath in Falmouth, supports the bill.

Sulak told the committee, "I have several patients that will take just a very small dose in the morning, and it controls their pain, and they're able to go about their day feeling a lot better without any impairment.”
