One of two ranked teams in action on Wednesday is the Florida State Seminoles. Head coach Leonard Hamilton brings a talented, athletic, and versatile lineup every season. They have been one of the best teams in the ACC in the last five years or so, producing lottery picks in the NBA Draft almost yearly. They will host the Ivy League’s Penn. The Quakers, along with the rest of the Ivy League, did not participate in the college basketball season last year. Penn was predicted to finish 4th out of eight Ivy League teams in the preseason poll.

Coming off of a 16-9 overall record last season, and finishing second in the MAC and participating in the NIT, the Buffalo Bulls take on Juwan Howard’s Michigan Wolverines, who seem poised to become one of the next powerhouses in the country. Howard is 42-17 in two seasons, fresh off a Big Ten title and Elite Eight appearance. While Buffalo’s NCAA tournament chances are good, it definitely isn’t a given, but Jeenathan Williams could be a deciding factor in that. He averaged 17.6 points per game, and 6.8 rebounds in his junior season. Williams and Josh Mballa (15.3 ppg, 10.8 rpg) will need to perform at that level or more if the Bulls are going to head to the Big Dance this year.
