EP131: Andy Buchanan - World Cross Country Championships Recap

In this weeks Better with Running Podcast, Chris and Zacca have running royalty in the house and they change the format to hear straight off the "Bat" from Run2PB Coach & 2 x Time Australian Representative Andy Buchanan,  fresh off arguably the toughest event in the running world, where he finished 33rd. 

In this interview, we hear about:

- Andy's preparation at Falls Creek and the lead into the trials and then getting himself ready for the course and what heat training he did before hand.

- 'Village Life' and the logistics of getting to the event as well as the team dynamics and inside the team setup.

- We hear about the race time changes and the team 'pits' and how he planned to execute the race.

- Andy talks about how he felt through the race, his thoughts on the course and what it was like to run against the best in the world.

- We hear about Andy's interactions with the crowd and some post race reflections, including his own rating of his performance.

- Andy also reveals his plans for his next race.

Chris takes us through his latest training and the prospect of a duel over 80m with his training partner Anna is floated. Zacca reflects on a busy week on the road and tempers his training in line with the travel.

Run2PB hero of the week is revealed and it goes to to Horsham's 'Mr Everywhere' -  Andrew 'Sos' Sostheim for taking home the Valued Volunteer of the Year award at Friday nights 'Sports Star of the Year Awards'. Sos was key to getting parkrun off the ground in Horsham and, as Event Director, keeps things running smoothly in the background. parkrun is just one of the ways Sos supports the local community, he's also involved with football, cricket and school committees.

The boys finish up with some world record chat about a very old race that involves pancakes, that has the lads getting a craving for some sweets.
