Ryan Hunt is Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Algix – a company that finds and creates new technologies for industries that are known for their harmful practices. I met Ryan on Instagram in a discussion for one such innovation – a product he created called Bloom.

Bloom is a foam made from the excess algae we have in our waters. While natural – too much algae tips the ecosystem – causing water to become toxic. As we use more and more pesticides in our farming, which increases algae blooms – it is a major problem.

Ryan – who is also a Bio and agricultural engineer – discovered that algae plasticizes over time – creating a foam.  A decade later this technology can be found in your sneakers, your kid’s natives and even surfboards.

In this episode we discuss all things algae and learn more about how he and the team of Algix are being the change.
