Perhaps another name for this series could be “The Truths Every Christian Should Believe and How They Change Us”. There are certain core beliefs that are so vital to the Christian faith that without them you cease to be a Christian. This series is meant to help us discern which doctrines are non-negotiable (closed-hand) and which ones leave room for conversations and questions (open-hand). Today we look at the reality that sin is not just something we do or embrace (idolatry), but it’s actually our condition. Thanks to the sin of Adam we are now sinful people who try to justify sin instead of repent of it. Today we look at a number of ways we try to cover or justify our sin, but will discover that Jesus is the only justification we need.
