Nehemiah is one of the most fascinating accounts in Israel’s history. It reads like a movie telling the historical account of a nation in political, social, and spiritual turmoil. Nehemiah is called by God to rebuild the walls and gates of Jerusalem and today we see how God uses an “ordinary” cupbearer to do an extraordinary work. Even though Nehemiah 3 seems like an odd chapter to study due to all 31 verses being a historical list of the work Israel did to rebuild the walls, we see that there are a number of lessons we can glean from passages like this.
