Mike Mulligan and David Haugh conducted the daily 5 at 5 segment, which began with a discussion about the life and legacy NBA legend Kobe Bryant. Bryant and his 13-year old daughter Gianna were among nine people killed Sunday morning when a helicopter crashed into a hillside in Calabasas, California. The guys then discussed whether the NBA should've canceled or postponed its Sunday slate of games. Would that have been the most appropriate and ultimate tribute? Later, the morning crew discussed how different the Bulls' future would have been in 2007 if Bryant hadn't exercised the no-trade clause in his contract to nix a deal to Chicago. They also discussed the news that Bulls forward Lauri Markkanen will miss 4-6 weeks with a pelvis injury and whether it affects their opinions of the third-year big man's struggles this season. Finally, the guys debated whether the Chiefs or 49ers have more "staying power" and which of the two Super Bowl contenders will be first to return to the big game. (1/27/20)
